LEAP Mentors
Each participant on the LEAP programme is provided a mentor at an appropriate juncture from the Enterprise Ireland mentor panel. A mentor will be nominated to each participant by Enterprise Ireland on request from with the participant - generally after the CORD application.
The LEAP programme's view is that the mentor is a guide and counselor rather than a consultant. Their role will focus on being an ‘intelligent sounding board’ on whom ideas can be tested and, discussed. Responsibility for execution of plans and strategies lies with the participants (they own and run their business!). The mentor is definitely not there to fill functional gaps in the management team but can provide a view of the bigger picture identifying areas where the management team (often one person) requires development or specialist assistance.
To conclude, mentors provide a link between the content of the training workshops and the real life experience and practical advice needed in the participants’ business situation.
