Background:
Eoin Barry is the principle promoter of ARV Excellence. From Clareview in Limerick He graduated from UL in 1993 with a degree in Materials science where later he also studied business administration. He worked as a project engineer, research scientist and senior quality engineer in companies designing and manufacturing implantable cardiac rhythm management devices (cardio defibrillators and pacemakers), vascular intervention products such as stents (tiny wire mesh used to keep arteries open), orthopaedic implants and turbochargers for automotive applications. His training in process optimisation has taken him around Europe, to Puerto Rico and the United States. As well as conducting process development he has trained technicians, engineers and management in process optimisation and validation. He is co-author of one patent.
He is motivated to deliver the tools and techniques that will help organisations to survive and individuals to realise their potential.
Business concept:
Develop process optimisation software that allows individuals and organisations to structure and perform business process improvement and achieve “six sigma”.
Six sigma is a term that describes a highly disciplined way of achieving near perfect processes and products. ARV Excellence will be delivers programmes for individuals and organisations in the structure and application of six sigma. The programme will be structured for different roles within organisations: management and process excellence champions, key individuals that have a near full time process improvement and optimisation role, front line process support and those requiring basic problem solving skills. The programmes not only deliver the way of creating near perfect processes but also an insight into how six sigma can be used to create a culture of positive accountability within an organisation and secure its survival.
A key and unique specialisation of ARV Excellence is the application of six sigma in medical device organisations through its MDSIXSIGMA programme.
LEAP:
The year spent on LEAP provided a platform for ARV Excellence to incubate and grow. It is a combination of environment, resources, access to experienced mentors and proximity to other highly motivated individuals that supported our journey from fledgling business to an established player in a niche knowledge based market. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the EAC and Limerick Institute of Technology over the coming years.
